Copa America soccer will have 16 participants in 2019

The Committee Executive from the South American football Confederation (Conmebol) confirmed on Wednesday that the America’s Cup in 2019 will count with the participation of 16 teams.
During the meeting in Santiago, Chile, was approved the proposal issued by the Brazilian football Confederation (CBF), which will host this year’s Edition.

In this way, the tournament proposed by the CBF shall consist of 10 teams that make up the Conmebol (Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela) and six invited teams, which will be confirmed later.
There is the possibility that the six remaining countries are the Confederation of North America, Central America and the Caribbean of football (Concacaf), as in the latest editions of the America’s Cup.

On the other hand, this edition of the tournament will be the last in odd year. Conmebol took the decision that, from the Copa America of United States in 2020 (similar to the Copa America centenary of the summer of 2016), the tournament is in even-numbered years every four years.
