Raúl Castro in Havana greets President of Ireland

The President of Cuba, Raúl Castro, and his counterpart from Ireland, Michael Higgins, held talks in Havana in the context of the official visit making the European representative to the Caribbean nation before the meeting, Higgins paid tribute to the national hero Jose Marti, and was received in a solemn ceremony at the revolution Palace, headquarters of the Executive. According to the planned schedule, in the Cuban capital it will go to the fortress of San Carlos de La Cabaña, headquarters of the XXVI international fair of the book of Havana, and perform other activities related to this literary event.

Before his arrival in Cuba, the Irish Chairman held meetings with his Colombian counterpart, Juan Manuel Santos, and the Peruvian President, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski as part of his official tour of Latin America, the first of a ruler of that country by the region. ARC/evm
