Michelle Bachelet announces huge investment in infrastructure

Chilean President Michelle Bachelet announced a plan to build infrastructure for a total amount of 27 billion dollars, to run between this year and 2021, in order to achieve a “strong growth” in the country .
The plan includes 18 billion dollars in regional projects financed public investment, and nine thousand 900 million in works to be delivered in a private concession, said the president.

“Infrastructure is the material expression of the homeland,” he said, and considered that “to have better infrastructure and improved living environment, gives growth and progress in an inclusive and sustainable.”
He said that the annual average investment of this agenda will be about 1.7 percentage points of GDP in new infrastructure, which added to the investment in Housing, Health and Transportation, “will reach 3.5 percentage points of GDP in infrastructure over the next 8 years. ”
Such volume exceeds one percentage point which Chile is investing in this area, said the president, who announced that the agenda includes a plan Connectivity Austral in Patagonia and the Arica and Parinacota Plan in the far north.
Also projected seven large reservoirs and fifteen smaller, a “big plan” paving of rural roads and port infrastructure program, among others.
